the discounts offered by Nuance on educational versions are substantial and in certain cases, e.g. with Professional, the discounts are as much as 75%, allowing resellers to sell at 25% of the recommended retail price. If only all software companies offered the same incentives!
Anyone selling educational versions should make it clear to any purchaser that the process you have had to go through will be necessary with any educational purchase otherwise it would be all too easy for anyone to take advantage of the substantial discounts offered. Therefore the first thing I would say is that if you were not aware that you have to go through this process then it is the fault of the reseller.
Secondly if it is over 48 hours (normal working hours) since you have heard from Nuance then I suggest that you contact them again. I have gone through this process many times for clients and I have never had any issues as long as the documents requested are produced and sent to them. This is usually two sets of identification including official documentation relating to the educational institution involved.
