- Notebook Dell Latitude E5520 - CPU: Intel Core i3-2310M (2.10GHz, 3MB cache, Dual Core)- 4 GB RAM - WIN XP Professional SP2 - USB Headset Plantronics Audio 610 (Audiotreiber lt. Systemsteuerung: IDT-Audio)

happy New Year to you. Please could you post your complete Dragon Log, please also change the extension from dragon.log to dragon.txt.
If there is information in your Dragon log that you prefer to keep private then alternatively you could try sending it to me at lindsay@pcbyvoice.com.
Any reason why you are running SP2 XP as opposed to SP3, I am not saying that this is the problem but just curious.
If you need a German translation then please just ask and my apologies for replying in English. If I replied in my best German you would still be trying to work out what I was trying to say tomorrow afternoon.
Zitat von monkey8please also change the extension from dragon.log to dragon.txt.
Lindsay,
although there are quite a few forums around where this is a requirement, some of which are somewhat dated or otherwise rapidly reaching the end of their life cycle, in this forum it is not needed. In addition to that, the file extension .log obviously is among the standard file formats to be used with any common TXT editor such as notepad, so basically, don't take the trouble to wrap your legs around your neck and leave it as it is.

Unfortunately I don't know, why Win XP SP2 and not SP3 is installed on my notebook. For this is our central IT department (located in another city) is responsible. I don't have any influence to this. Therefore, I am also glad that Dragon 11 NS was purchased and installed on my notebook.
I will sent the log file to your private e-mail address because I do not want to post the business data in the log-file.
>14:30:02 LOG (Perf): Time to track desktop apps = 3921 msec<
there are a few entries like above in your Dragon log. Dragon from time to time has to generate command names and pronunciations for applications in your start menu, desktop and it does this by scanning all the shortcut items. Normally it should take something like 500 ms to do this. You have entries where it is taken as much as five or six seconds so I would recommend running the following utility (ChkLnk), as such delays can be caused by dead shortcut links. You will be surprised at how many dead shortcut links you have.
I would also add that running this utility speeded up my DNS big-time and I know it has for others, however it is not always the primary reason for latency and may or may not help your latency problems. Let me know how it goes.
You may also want to backup all your shortcut links from your start menu and desktop although I have never had any issues personally where valid links have been removed, you can always recreate a shortcut anyway.

although I would never normally recommend this, particularly with Windows Vista and Windows 7, it may be worth defragmenting your hard disk. It was quite a useful tool with Windows XP especially on a hard disk that had been running for years without any maintenance.
You might also want to disable ctfmon which can cause various problems with DNS, spotted by someone more observant than myself (R W). Additionally spotted was the fact that you have a USB microphone yet you may have chose a Bluetooth audio source for your user profile? If after making the various changes and running the various utilities mentioned so far, you still have problems, then you might consider making a new user profile.
General Step to disable CTFMON.exe (Microsoft Speech/Alternate Input Component):
Note: Close out of all applications and end the "ctfmon.exe" process in the Task Manager before completing the following steps (if it is running).
STEP ONE: Remove "ctfmon.exe" from the computers start up.
Windows 98, ME, and XP: Close all open applications. Click "Start > Run". Type "msconfig" without the quotes into the "Run" dialog box. Click "OK". Under the "Start Up" tab look for "ctfmon.exe" and uncheck it. Click "Apply" and "OK". Restart the computer.
Goodyear -------------------------- English translation:
Unfortunately I am not able to defragment the HDD nor to let the utility "ChkLnk" run. I'm heavily regulated on my laptop because it is also connected to the corporate network. Defrag and ChkLnk.exe does not run.
The second proposed solution seems to be bearing fruit. With a new user profile and after I have the file "ctfmon.exe" ended on Task Manager, the errors occur so far to no more. I hope that this situation persists, and thank you for these suggestions.
